What our plumber found
Trystan and Kagen found the drain assembly was not plumbed the right way for a freestanding tub, and the corrugated extension under it was leaking. We ordered the special-order drain part and picked it up when it came in.
How we fixed it
We installed a new brushed nickel toe-tap tub drain and replaced the leaking corrugated extension with a solid 1-1/2-inch tailpiece extension. We lifted the tub, lowered it slowly onto the drain coming out of the floor and tightened both slip-joint nuts. Then we filled the tub, drained it and lifted it slightly to check underneath. Everything worked with no leaks.
