Before and after

What the customer called about
The urinal in a Tulsa salon's break room was running constantly.
What our plumber found
The flushometer needed new internal parts. We also found sediment buildup in the jet holes of the urinal itself.
How we fixed it
We replaced the diaphragm, the vacuum breaker and the o-ring in the flushometer, then flushed the urinal several times to test it. Water still trickles down after a flush but stops within about 30 seconds, which comes from the sediment in the jet holes. We recommended cleaning the jet holes with a calcium and lime remover, and if that doesn't clear it, replacing the urinal.
What this means for your building
A running urinal is usually the flushometer, and a rebuild is often all it takes. Hard-water sediment in the fixture can cause a slow trickle even after the valve is fixed.

Why does a urinal keep running?
Usually worn parts inside the flushometer. On this job we replaced the diaphragm, vacuum breaker and o-ring.
Why does water still trickle after a flushometer repair?
Sediment buildup in the urinal's jet holes can cause a short trickle. Cleaning them with a calcium and lime remover is the first step.
